The Joy of Being A Children’s Book Author
I can tell you the best part of being a children’s book author is not the writing, although seeing your imagination and words transformed into art through illustrations is certainly thrilling and emotional. It’s not the five star reviews or the number of sales made online or even getting crowned with best seller status on Amazon. All of that certainly brings about a smile and a sense of accomplishment. It isn’t even knowing that your children’s book, dare I think about it,could be read by generations passed down through a family creating a kind of longevity that is simply magical. No, the joy of being a children’s book author is none of that.
The real joy only happens when you take the time to do a book signing, attend book festivals, visit schools or anything else that will let you have a shared experience. Many times, you are not just meeting your intended reader but the whole family who will be reading your story together!
A children’s book author signing is not just a table, pen and stack of books- I believe it is one ofthe most emotional and joy-filled moments you can ever have. True joy comes from these connections, recognition, and being able to witness first hand your story has truly come to life.
The best part of all though is knowing kids can certainly be the most honest audience. When they love a story, they really love it! Their excitement is pure and contagious. Meeting young readers, standing in front of you with wide eyes and a big smile, clutching your book like new found treasure can be a very simple and powerful feeling. Pure Joy!
